In a momentous accomplishment for Jammu and Kashmir’s healthcare system, the abrogation of Article 370 has led to significant progress in recent years, with digital interventions revolutionizing healthcare services in the region.
In a recent achievement under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), the revolutionary Scan and Share Queue Management System has surpassed 400,000 Out Patient Department (OPD) tokens in just three months since its implementation.
According to official figures, an impressive total of 424,893 tokens have been generated through the Queue Management System. This includes 245,203 tokens in Government Medical Colleges and Associated Hospitals, 156,976 in District Hospitals, and 22,714 in Community Health Centres.
The Scan and Share QR-based OPD registration initiative, launched in April of this year, initially targeted Government Medical Colleges and Associated Hospitals during its first phase. It was later extended to include all District Hospitals in the second phase and Community Health Centres (CHCs) in the third phase.
Bhupinder Kumar, Secretary, Health and Medical Education (H&ME) Department, highlighted the significance of digital advancements and initiatives like the Scan & Share Queue Management System in enhancing hassle-free healthcare services in the public health delivery system. He emphasized the potential of this intervention to revolutionize healthcare delivery in Jammu and Kashmir.
Dr.Shafqat Khan, Additional Mission Director of Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, praised the initiative as a game-changer for the health sector in J&K, benefiting patients significantly. He explained that the QR code-based registration facilitates queue-less registrations, streamlining the process for patients with ABHA health IDs.
The move has garnered widespread appreciation, with the department actively working on further upgrades to expand the service to 550 health institutions. The QR code-based OPD registration system aims to reduce long queues and waiting times for patients outside the OPDs, ensuring a smoother experience for patients.
Armed with their QR-based token numbers, patients can proceed directly to the registration counter to collect their outpatient slips (OP slips) for consultation with a doctor, eliminating the need for long hours of waiting.
Healthcare officials emphasized the crucial role of online services in modernizing and improving medical care, especially during challenging times such as the COVID-19 pandemic. Online healthcare services offer convenient access to virtual consultations and treatments, providing timely care from the comfort of patients’ homes while minimizing the risk of virus transmission.
The Scan and Share Queue Management System’s success marks a significant step forward for Jammu and Kashmir’s healthcare system, showcasing the positive impact of digital interventions in transforming healthcare services in the region.
