Srinagar, Dec 8: Gulmarg in North Kashmir experienced a fresh spell of snowfall on Sunday, drawing hundreds of tourists eager to witness the winter beauty. The snowfall added to the charm of the ski resort, making it a popular spot for visitors from across the country.
Tourists, excited by the weather forecast, were seen enjoying the snow-covered mountains.
Gulmarg, famous for its breathtaking winter views, has become a hub of activity, with fresh snow enhancing its allure.
Vikranth Sharma, a tourist from New Delhi, shared his excitement, saying, “I’ve been in Kashmir for a few days, eagerly waiting for the snowfall. The snow-covered mountains are beautiful, and this has been the highlight of my trip.”
Authorities at Gulmarg have implemented safety measures, restricting vehicles without proper snow chains from accessing the area to prevent accidents on slippery roads. An official stated, “Drivers are advised to use snow chains for their safety. These measures are essential to ensure the safety of visitors in challenging weather conditions.”
The SDM Gulmarg has issued an advisory for safe travel on the Gulmarg-Tangmarg road during winter. Only 4×4 vehicles with anti-skid chains will be allowed until the ice thaws, while LMVs with up to 10 seats are permitted to avoid traffic jams and breakdowns. Registered vendors can install anti-skid chains at ₹600 per pair in designated parking areas.
Tour operators and private vehicle owners must park in designated spaces at Tangmarg, and coat and boot vendors are barred from operating on roads to prevent disruptions. Travelers are urged to strictly follow these guidelines for a safe and hassle-free journey.
Gulmarg, often called the “winter destination for tourists,” is buzzing with activity. Hotels in the area are fully booked, with visitors eager to experience the valley’e renowned snow sports and scenic beauty.
The fresh snowfall has brought excitement and happiness, signaling the beginning of a promising winter tourism season in Kashmir.
