Baramulla, Aug 25: Touseef Raina, the former president of the Baramulla Municipal Council, has unveiled a new political group named ‘United Varmul’. He has called upon the citizens of the north Kashmir district to rally behind its candidates in the upcoming municipal elections.
In a press conference held at Dak Bungalow here, Raina extended an appeal to “conscientious” residents of Baramulla who share a “vision of a more developed and prosperous town”. He encouraged them to step forward and stand as candidates for various wards under the banner of ‘United Varmul’.
“Interested individuals are advised to establish contact through the group’s official Facebook page or in person,” he said.
Raina emphasised the importance of individuals who champion hard work, sincerity and integrity to support the group’s candidates.
Unlike established political parties, Raina pointed out that the group lacks substantial funding and backing, and “relies on the backing of the public”.
Highlighting his own and other key members’ accomplishments during the previous two-year tenure when he led the Municipal Council, Raina said the citizens of Baramulla have witnessed the “positive impact of our efforts”.
He mentioned the “warm reception from numerous townspeople who appreciated our work undertaken during this period”.
As the municipal elections are approaching, the emergence of ‘United Varmul’ adds a new dynamic to the political landscape in Baramulla.
With Raina at the helm, the group aims to offer a platform for candidates who pledge to usher in an era of transparency, hard work, and progress for the town.
