Srinagar, Apr 02: Ghulam Nabi Azad, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and Chairman of Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP), is set to vie for a seat in the Lok Sabha from the Anantnag-Rajouri constituency.
Taj Mohiuddin, the party treasurer, announced Azad’s candidacy during a press conference in Srinagar on Tuesday.
Mohiuddin said the party has decided to nominate Azad as their contender for the parliamentary elections in the Anantnag-Rajouri parliamentary seat.
The move adds another significant player to the electoral landscape, intensifying the competition in the upcoming polls. The development follows closely on the heels of the National Conference’s announcement, announcing Mian Altaf, a former minister and ex-legislator from Kangan, as their candidate for the same constituency.
With both major parties unveiling their nominees, the stage is set for a fiercely contested electoral battle in the Anantnag-Rajouri Constituency.
Ghulam Nabi Azad brings with it a wealth of political experience, having previously served as Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and the Union Minister. His decision to enter the fray adds a new dimension to the electoral dynamics.
