In view of the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha celebrations, Food Safety Department Anantnag has launched a comprehensive inspection drive across various markets in the district to ensure the availability of safe, hygienic, and wholesome food for consumers during the festive season.

The focus has been on establishments dealing with bakery products, milk and milk derivatives, meat, fruits, and vegetables.

Bakery units underwent detailed inspections and were instructed to strictly comply with the hygiene and sanitary requirements outlined under Schedule IV of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.

During the inspections, samples of various food items were collected for laboratory analysis to assess their quality and safety standards. Additionally, 15 food business operators were recommended for action under different provisions of the Act due to non-compliance with regulatory norms.
The department has urged all food business operators to adhere strictly to food safety regulations in both letter and spirit. Consumers are also advised to carefully examine packaging and labeling details before purchasing any food products.

Food Safety department remains committed to safeguarding public health and ensuring the availability of safe food for all.
