Katra, Jan 27: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) celebrated the 75th Republic Day with enthusiasm and patriotic zeal. The flag hoisting ceremony took place in the inauguration pavilion, led by Prof Pragati Kumar, Vice Chancellor of SMVDU, who served as the chief guest.
The event commenced with the national anthem, resonating with the spirit of unity. In his address, Prof. Pragati Kumar delved into the historical significance of the nation’s journey to becoming an independent republic. He highlighted the invaluable contributions of the leadership of that era and drew attention to the distinct challenges faced by the nation today. Prof Kumar stressed the need for preparedness among citizens to confront contemporary challenges.
Following the flag hoisting, a cultural program unfolded in collaboration with students from AMET University, Chennai, who are currently visiting SMVDU as part of the Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat student exchange program. The entire event saw active participation from students, staff, and faculty members of SMVDU, fostering a sense of national pride and unity.
