Jammu, Dec 16: Officers from the Jammu and Kashmir Police Monday took part in a brainstorming five-day course on investigation of Cyber Crime at Sher-e-Kashmir Police Academy, (SKPA) in Udhampur district.
A statement issued here said that a five-day course on “Investigation of Cyber Crime” commenced at the Sher-e-Kashmir Police Academy, Udhampur. “Eleven officers of the J&K Police, ranging from the rank of Sub-Inspector to Deputy Superintendent of Police are participating in this training program,” it said. “The course aims to provide participants with a foundational understanding of cybercrime and its investigation. Topics covered include: Cybercrime Overview: Understanding hacking, phishing, identity theft, email bombing, web defacement, fake profiles, salami attacks, pornography, cyberstalking, and cyberbullying.”
The five-day course also includes networking and internet fundamentals. “Types of networks, network devices, and services such as email, file transfer, e-banking, e-commerce, and the World Wide Web will also be discussed in the course besides cybercrime detection that entails role of IT in combating malicious codes, computer viruses, worms, trojans, web hacking, and financial frauds, along with the latest trends in cybercrime,” the statement said.
Expert faculty from academia and the Academy have been invited to deliver lectures and provide practical insights during the program.
The course was inaugurated in a formal ceremony, with Rajinder Kumar Gupta, Dy. Director (Indoor), as the chief guest. In his address, Gupta welcomed the participants on behalf of the Director of SKPA and emphasized the importance of staying updated with modern tools and techniques for investigating cybercrimes. He highlighted the critical role of first responders in handling such cases effectively. The course is being coordinated by Inspector Rohit Gupta, with assistance from HC Randeep Singh.
