Srinagar, July 31: As a meaningful contribution to the ongoing Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) across the Union Territory, the Assistant Director of Fisheries in Kupwara & Shyambir Singh Ex. Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal released a farmer-friendly and technically sound handbook encompassing all major agri and allied sectors. The newly launched book, which consists of 50 comprehensive chapters, serves as a resourceful guide for farmers, extension workers, researchers, and students. Covering critical sectors like fisheries, animal husbandry, sheep husbandry, sericulture, horticulture, and traditional agriculture, the book highlights the interlinked nature of the agri-economy and offers in-depth insights into each domain.”I planned this book during my stay as Assistant Director Fisheries, Ganderbal, with the support of the then DC Ganderbal and the officers from all agri and allied sectors. This publication is not just a book—it’s a tool of empowerment, besides a handy comprehension of all sciences. A farmer or an intending entrepreneur can study and decide the farming enterprises to choose from the book, which talks about economics and profit making” said the AD Fisheries Kupwara. He added, “It reflects field-level experiences and is designed to be accessible, practical, and useful to those working at the grassroots level.”He said, “The book is a great resource for developmental departments, university and college students, besides the libraries across the UT of J&K”The first chapter of the book provides a detailed overview of interventions under the HADP scheme, which aims to make agriculture more attractive—especially to the youth—through lucrative subsidies and modern practices. The handbook further delves into contemporary challenges, sustainable practices, and the future of agriculture in the region.”The hope is that this book ignites new conversations and ideas, encouraging collaborative efforts to nurture and sustain our agricultural legacy,” the author added.
