Jammu, June 15: The Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H)-Jammu has achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first hospital in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir to implement a state-of-the-art ‘Hospital Alert System’. This premier health institute has completed the training of its staff, and the ‘Command and Control Room’ is now fully operational.
Dr.SandeepDogra, Head of the Department of Microbiology, informed Rising Kashmirthat the system is designed to enhance patient care by ensuring prompt attention from specialized teams in all wards and the emergency department. The new alert system promises swift response times for patient emergencies.
The Rising Kashmirhad previously reported on June 1 that GMC-Jammu was set to become the first hospital in J&K to implement this advanced alert system. The system will not only improve patient care but also provide critical support during other emergencies such as fire outbreaks, stampedes, power failures, non-functional lifts, earthquakes, or any other crisis.
Installed across all wards and the emergency block, the system allows hospital staff to press a button during any emergency. This triggers a flash light and alert, sending a message to the control room, where response teams are on standby.
“We have set up a control room in GMC-Jammu, and all the necessary machinery is in place,” confirmed Dr.Ashutosh Gupta, Principal of GMC, Jammu. This advancement marks a significant improvement in the hospital’s emergency preparedness and patient care capabilities.
