Srinagar, Apr 15: The Jammu and Kashmir Fire and Emergency Services Department is conducting a series of awareness and training programmes throughout the union territory to enhance awareness among educational institutions, healthcare facilities and commercial enterprises.
An official from the department informed Rising Kashmir that Fire Service Week is observed annually from April 14 to 20 across India. During this period, various awareness and training initiatives are conducted throughout Jammu and Kashmir.
“Educational and health institutions are also involved, where we provide fundamental knowledge regarding the patterns of fire incidents and methods for controlling fires on-site,” he said
During the Fire Service Week, the department organises awareness programs that engage students from schools, colleges, and universities, as well as employees from various departments.
“The department is conducting these awareness and training programs at all fire stations across the Union Territory, ensuring that individuals, students, educational institutions, healthcare facilities, and employees from different departments are educated about fire patterns and effective on-site control methods,” the official said.
He said the Fire Service Week is aimed at raising public awareness regarding fire prevention measures. The department, the official added, is also conducting various activities in schools throughout Jammu and Kashmir.
