Srinagar, July 12: A major fire broke out in the early hours of Saturday at a shop in the Hassanabad locality of Srinagar, completely gutting the premises and causing losses worth several lakhs of rupees.The affected establishment, Master Cable Network, situated near Imam Bara Hassanabad, housed a significant stock of electronic items, including batteries, cable network components, and appliance repair tools such as washing machine parts. The fire engulfed the shop rapidly, reducing its entire inventory to ashes. The owner of Master Cable Network said that they have lost everything. Visibly distraught at the site. “Years of hard work went up in flames within minutes. We had just stocked up on essential components and equipment worth lakhs for the coming season. The owner added that the shop had been a vital source of service and supplies for the area’s residents and small businesses. Now, it’s all gone,” he said. Residents and emergency responders acted swiftly to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby buildings. Thanks to their timely intervention, the damage was confined to the shop alone, avoiding a larger disaster in the densely populated area. Fire and Emergency Services officials are yet to ascertain the exact cause of the fire, while an official assessment of the losses is underway. No injuries or casualties were reported in the incident.
