Srinagar, Feb 03:  The Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI) Friday raided 37 locations across six districts of Jammu, including Jammu, Doda, Reasi, Rajouri, Samba and Udhampur in connection with an ongoing investigation alleged irregularities  in the written examination for the posts of Financial Accounts Assistant (FAA) conducted by J&K Service Selection Board (JKSSB).
On Friday morning, CBI investigators searched the residences of  touts  and other suspects in 37 different sites around Jammu. The CBI has launched an inquiry into alleged anomalies in the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) exam, which was held in November last year, according to officials.
Twenty people have been charged in the case, including Neelam Khajuria, a former JKSSB member; Anju Raina, a section officer; and Karnail Singh, a former BSF Frontier Headquarters medical officer who was also a suspect in the J-K Police Sub-Inspector Recruitment Examination Scam case.
On November 28, 2022, the CBI opened an investigation into allegations of irregularities in the written examination conducted by the J&K Services Selection Board (JKSSB) on March 6, 2022, for the recruitment of Accounts assistants in finance.
On April 21, 2012, the results were announced. Earlier, the government of J&K had constituted an inquiry committee to look into allegations of malpractices in the said examination. A conspiracy was allegedly hatched among JKSSB officials, according to the committee’s report.
A private company based in Bengaluru; beneficiary candidates; and others, which caused gross irregularities in the conduct of written examinations for the posts of accounts assistant in the finance department. It was further alleged that there was an abnormally high percentage of selected candidates from the districts of Jammu, Kathua, and Reasi. It also discovered the alleged rule violation by JKSSB in that the task of setting the question paper was delegated to a private company in Bengaluru.
Previously, the CBI stated that the Haryana gang was behind for the Jammu and Kashmir Police Sub Inspector recruitment paper leak. The inquiry, according to the CBI, “has also uncovered an alleged payment of Rs. 20–30 lakh (approx.) by interested applicants and their families to the accused for accessing the question paper before the commencement of the examination.”
Searches in this case were conducted in 36 locations in September last year, including Jammu, Srinagar, and Karnal in J&K; Mahendergarh; Rewari in Haryana; Gandhidham in Gujarat; Delhi; Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh; and Bangalore in Karnataka, at the premises of the former chairman, the JKSSB; Gang members domiciled in Haryana; certain teachers; and some serving or retired J&K Police officials, including a DSP.
