Jammu, Sep 02: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Working President and former minister, Raman Bhalla on Monday urged party workers to expose what he termed as the “misdeeds” of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its “proxy” government in the Union Territory.
Addressing a workers’ meeting in Ambika Colony, Shankar Nagar and Shanti Vihar in the RS Pura Jammu South constituency, Bhalla said the upcoming assembly elections would be a “decisive moment” for the people to “rebuke” BJP for its “anti-people policies”.
He criticised the BJP-led administration, saying it had failed on multiple fronts, particularly in providing basic amenities such as power and potable water. He accused the party of indulging in “cheap publicity” by presenting “fake figures and statistics”.
Bhalla challenged the recent claims of the J&K government regarding the promotion of start-ups in the region and called on Congress cadres to accelerate preparations for the upcoming elections. “Congress is ready for polls at any time,” he said. “With the support of the people, the Congress will expose BJP and its proxies in the coming days,” seeking a decisive mandate to establish a new system of justice and equality in Jammu and Kashmir.”
The former minister criticised the J&K administration for its “failure” to provide jobs to the youth and for the economic hardships faced by small business enterprises under BJP rule.
“Congress is committed to fighting for the rights and well-being of the people in the region,” he said.
The Congress leader also expressed shock over the loss of lives in the Vaishno Devi landslide and the martyrdom of Army personnel in a “terror” attack in Sunjwan. He extended sympathy to the bereaved families and wished a speedy recovery for the injured.
