Jammu, Apr 10: Principal Secretary Forest, Ecology and Environment, Dheeraj Gupta on Monday convened a review meeting regarding ongoing Jambu Zoo works, and asked the officials of the Wildlife Protection Department, contractors and service providers, to expedite the works to ensure that the zoo is dedicated to the public in this month.
He emphasized the enhanced coordination among various agencies to ensure the timely completion of vital works such as main road, parking area development, water supply and allied infrastructure.
The Principal Secretary also reviewed different services to be offered to the public in Jambu Zoo such as ticketing, cafeteria, kiosk, drinking water points, shelter sheds, battery cars, viewpoints and parks. He issued instructions to the officials for timely mobilization and trial run of various services by the 3rd week of April. He directed the department to gear up for the animal shifting plan for relocating the Manda Mini Zoo animals in the upcoming Zoo by April 24 as per the evaluation carried out by CZA officials.
Dheeraj stressed upon the importance of real-time coordination among executing agencies for interlinked activities to avoid any delay in shifting of material and machinery or equipments. He directed the officials to take a daily review of such activities with contractors.
Taking note of the gaps in the resources mobilization viz-a-viz targets to be achieved, the Principal Secretary directed the officials to ensure all efforts to achieve zoo operational status by 26th of April 2023 for inspection and trial run. The review meeting was attended by the Regional Wildlife Warden Jammu, Wildlife Warden Jambu Zoo and senior officers of the Wildlife Protection Department and service providers of outsourced activities and contractors.
