Reasi, Jan 30: Khursheed Ahmad Shah, Mission Director of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in Jammu and Kashmir, Thursday conducted a comprehensive review of the ongoing JJM works in Reasi district where he directed officers to ensure 100 percent certification of covered villages.
The review meeting, focused on assessing the progress of the mission’s implementation in the region and addressing any challenges faced in the execution of water supply schemes. The Executive Engineer of the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Division Reasi presented a detailed update, revealing that 69 out of 121 schemes in the district have been completed to date. The Mission Director emphasised the importance of completing all pending schemes and maintaining the quality of work to meet the set targets for the region.
Mission Director Khursheed Ahmad Shah issued key directives to accelerate the pace of ongoing works, urging all stakeholders to work with urgency to achieve the objective of providing “Har Ghar Jal” (tap water to every household) in the district. He particularly focused on achieving 100% certification for covered villages and called for coordinated efforts to ensure seamless implementation of JJM across Reasi. The review meeting saw the participation of various officials, including Bodhraj Bhagat, Superintending Engineer of PHE (Mechanical), Sunil Khoul, Vijay Arora (Consultants for the district), the Executive Engineer PHE Division Reasi, and other stakeholders from the district. Representatives from the Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Corporation (JPDCL), as well as officers from the forest department, PMGSY, and DPMU Reasi, were also present.
In addition to the review meeting, the Mission Director also inspected several ongoing water supply schemes in the district, reinforcing the need for timely completion and quality assurance in line with the mission’s objectives. The Jal Jeevan Mission aims to provide tap water to every rural household in the district, enhancing access to clean drinking water and improving the quality of life for residents. The progress made so far in Reasi has been encouraging, but officials remain focused on accelerating work to meet the final targets.
