Srinagar, Nov 11: An encounter between terrorists and security forces broke out in the Parigam area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday. The officials revealed that the encounter is still underway till the last reports came in.
According to police sources, a specific information led to the launch of a cordon and search operation by a joint team of security forces in the area. When the security forces cordoned the suspected spot, the hiding terrorists opened fire on them, leading to the onset of the encounter.
Jammu and Kashmir police confirmed the encounter through its official handle X formerly Twitter stating, “#Encounter has started at Parigam area of #Pulwama. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow.”
The officer mentioned that after the initial exchange of fire, there was a lull, and as of now, there is no fresh firing. The entire area remains under a cordon.
