Srinagar, 08 Aug: Chief Secretary Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta on Tuesday said that elaborate preparations are underway for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations in Kashmir.
He expressed his optimism and excitement for the festivities, assuring that this year’s celebrations would be marked by a sense of unity and enthusiasm among the residents.
Talking to reporters on the side-lines of Mega Tiranga Rally at Bakshi Stadium, part of the “Meri Maati Mera Desh” campaign, Dr Mehta said in terms of security, the situation is calm and there is no problem at all.
He said people of India should feel proud of our rich culture and heritage.
“India has been the leading country in the world in the past and we have to reach back to the top. I hope that those students who are participating in these rallies will get motivated,” Chief Secretary said.
Regarding completion of smart city projects in Srinagar, Dr. Mehta said many projects have already been completed and Srinagar Square including Clock Tower, Dal Lake Cycling Track etc, will be completed before 15th August.
“Where people go in Srinagar, there is development everywhere. People should enjoy it as Srinagar will be built among the beautiful cities of India,” Dr. Mehta said.
Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Mohammad Ajaz Asad were also present during this event.
On the occasion, the Chief Secretary also administered Deep Dive Panchpran Pledge under Meri Maati Mera Desh to all the participants.
The mega rally was organized by District Administration Srinagar in collaboration with Department of Youth Services and Sports which was participated by more than a thousand school students from different educational institutions of Srinagar.
