Baramulla, Aug 08: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday seized a private car of a drug smuggler.

The operation was carried out under the provisions of sections 68-E and 68-F (1) of the NDPS Act 1985.

A police official said that Baramulla Police executed the operation with meticulous planning and adherence to legal protocols.

The initiative was conducted under the overall supervision of Mohd Nawaz, SDPO Pattan.

The police official said that the Maruti car, bearing registration number JK03B-1977, was linked to a case registered under FIR No. 132/2023, pertaining to sections 8/21 and 29 of the NDPS Act at the Pattan Police Station.

“After thorough investigation, it was determined that the said movable property was acquired through illicit trafficking by the alleged drug smuggler,” he said

Police identified the drug smuggler as Ghulam Mohammad Dar, son of Abdul Rehman Dar, resident of Mirgund Pattan.

This operation marks another significant milestone in the ongoing efforts of the Baramulla Police to curb drug smuggling in the region.

Previously, the police have successfully attached properties valued at 68.05 lakh rupees, including two houses, two vehicles, and cash amounting to 41.72 lakh rupees, across Pattan, Kreeri, and Kamalkote.

The confirmation of property attachment orders came by SAFEM (FOP) A & NDPSA, New Delhi.

These orders were issued in relation to illegal acquisitions by drug smugglers, involving both movable and immovable assets, in Pattan and Kreeri. Notably, both houses and vehicles were targeted in these actions.
