New Delhi, May 19:The book ‘Kashmir Chronicles’ by Dr Vijay K Sazawal was formally released at the Constitution Club, New Delhi. The event was graced by Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh and attended by defence experts, scholars and members of the Kashmiri Pandit community.
Describing the book as a well-documented and insightful account, Dr Singh said it adds valuable perspective to the ongoing discourse on Jammu and Kashmir. The book captures a personal yet analytical narrative of a Kashmiri Pandit living in exile, offering historical, political, and socio-cultural insights alongside international viewpoints.
Dr Singh spoke about recent developments in Kashmir, referring to the Pahalgam incident as a reminder that the so-called “Kashmir issue” is largely driven by vested interests and external forces. “There is no Kashmir issue. It is a creation of political conspiracies and foreign-backed terrorism,” he said.
The Union Minister called the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits one of the biggest human tragedies in post-Independence India, comparing it to the Partition of 1947.
Author Dr Vijay Sazawal shared his personal journey as an exile and highlighted the geopolitical shifts in Jammu and Kashmir over the years. Defence expert Brigadier (Retd) Brijesh Pandey also spoke on the military and strategic challenges in the region.
The event began with a welcome address by Dr Kuldeep Ratnoo, Director of India Policy Foundation, and concluded with a vote of thanks by former MLC Girdhari Lal Raina, who praised the book for its bold and clear narrative.
Dr Jitendra also reflected on national security issues, including “Operation Sindoor” and criticised the Indus Water Treaty, calling it a diplomatic error rooted in appeasement politics.
Kashmir Chronicles’ is now available in major bookstores and online platforms, expected to spark meaningful conversations on the region’s past, politics, and human cost.
