Authorities conducted a drive and crackdown on Tuesday, issuing numerous challans and collected penalties for the wrong parking of vehicles along the old Anantnag-Srinagar National Highway at Bijbehara.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Traffic, Mohammad Idrees, the drive was conducted in collaboration with the revenue and traffic department.
He said that 45 challans were issued to vehicles for wrongful parking, causing hindrances and traffic jams along the old highway at busy spots.
“The traffic department has collected 15k as fines from the erring drivers. Besides, a few others were educated about traffic norms and instructed to adhere to the rules diligently,” he said.
He said that 30 of the challans were issued specifically for vehicles parked incorrectly, while the remaining were for violating other traffic regulations.
“The drive is a continuous process, and we urge drivers to adhere to the rules and abide by traffic norms for the smooth flow of traffic along the road,” he added.
