DLSA Budgam promotes voter education under SVEEP campaign

Budgam, May 07: In order to promote & encourage voter literacy & participation of voter in the electoral process, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Budgam, under the Aegis of JKLSA organized awareness programme at ADR Center Budgam under Sveep (Systematic Voter’s Education and Electoral Participation).
The programme was organized by District Legal Services Authority at ADR Center Budgam.
The programme held under the able guidance of Mr. Khalil Ahmad Choudhary, Chairman District Legal Services Authority, and Budgam and under the supervision of Mr. Jehangir Ahmad Bakshi, Secretary District Legal Services Authority Budgam.
The programme witnessed the participation of Mr. Jehangir Ahmad Bakshi Secretary DLSA, Mr. Shahrooq Ahmad Bhat Deputy LADC, Adv. Zafer Mehdi, Mr. Feroz Ahmad Mir trained Mediator, Mr Rouf Ahmad Assistant LADC, Adv Aarizo, Adv Mohammad Iqbal wani, members of bar, Panel Lawyers, staff members of DLSA Budgam, and PLVs of DLSA Budgam.
Secretary District Legal Services Authority Budgam while speaking on the occasion highlighted the importance of Right to vote in a democracy. He also explained precautions and necessary steps to be followed by the voters while casting his vote.
Mr. Shahrooq Ahmad Bhat while deliberating upon the topic said that the casting of the vote is a fundamental right after attaining the age of 18 years. He also appraised the audience for taking part in the voting process in order to choose their representative and also elucidated the rights of the voters in light of the constitution.
Advocate Zafer Mehdi while speaking on the topic said that the reasons and fundamentals behind the system of voting Adv. Feroz Ahmad further shed light on the rights of voters and promotion of voter literacy and voter participation.
Advocate Arizo also highlighted the importance of female participation in the electoral process of the country as 33% reservation is meant for the females to represent their voices.
