Samba, Jun 27: Member of Parliament (MP), Jugal Kishore Sharma, on Friday presided over a meeting of the District Development Coordination & Monitoring Committee (DISHA) here to assess the implementation and progress of Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSSs) and other key developmental initiatives in the district.
The gathering was attended by DDC Chairperson Keshav Dutt Sharma, MLA Ramgarh Dr Devinder Kumar Manyal, MLA Vijaypur Chander Prakash Ganga, Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma, nominated DISHA committee members, and senior officers from various departments.
The DC presented an extensive PowerPoint briefing on the physical and financial status of flagship schemes and ongoing development projects across Samba.
MP Jugal Kishore reviewed the progress of crucial infrastructure projects, including the Samba to Sumb Road and Mansar Mod to Mansar Road. He stressed the importance of promptly installing permanent signboards on PMGSY and rural roads, as well as laying the foundation stone for the Samba Flyover, to promote transparency, civic awareness, and accountability.
The committee also discussed the repair work of the road opposite Chichi Mata Mandir and the beautification of Jakh Pond, where facilities like a footpath, safety grill, and drawing wall have been developed to improve public convenience and security.
Addressing environmental concerns, the MP directed the District Mining Officer to intensify monitoring of illegal mining activities and enforce regulations strictly to prevent environmentally damaging practices. He praised the Samba Police for their ongoing efforts against drug trafficking, considering it a vital step towards creating a drug-free and secure society.
While reviewing the performance of the Agriculture and allied departments, MP Kishore emphasised the need for targeted implementation of schemes and subsidies. He instructed that verification processes be strengthened to ensure benefits reach only genuine and eligible beneficiaries.
Reiterating the government’s development vision, the MP called for enhanced interdepartmental coordination and active engagement with public representatives to remove bottlenecks and accelerate development, especially in border and rural regions. He directed officials to fast-track works under PM Awas Yojana 2.0 and strategic road projects, ensuring strict adherence to deadlines.
He also requested a comprehensive Action Taken Report (ATR) on pending issues related to irregular water supply and service delivery gap. The MP highlighted the importance of leveraging modern digital tools to expand the reach of welfare schemes.
The meeting concluded with the Deputy Commissioner presenting the ATR on issues raised in the previous DISHA meeting, reaffirming the district administration’s commitment to accountable, responsive, and time-bound development.
