Director Sericulture J&K observes Republic Day Celebrations with Patriotic Fervor

The 76th Republic Day of India was celebrated with great enthusiasm and pride at the Directorate of Sericulture Development Department, B.C. Road, Jammu. During the occasion Ajaz Ahmad Bhat (IAS), Director, Sericulture J&K, unfurled the National Flag, marking a renewed commitment to the values of democracy and nation-building.

The ceremony began with the hoisting of the Tricolor by the Director, followed by the National Anthem, filling the atmosphere with a sense of unity and patriotism. The Directorate premises were beautifully adorned with floral decorations, vibrant tricolor lighting and flags fluttering along the boundaries. The celebrations were also observed at various divisional and district offices of the Sericulture Department across Jammu & Kashmir, demonstrating collective participation and national pride.

In his address,  Bhat emphasized the need for concerted efforts to raise awareness among silkworm rearers, farmers, and youth about the numerous schemes and facilities offered by the department. He encouraged the staff to work with dedication to ensure that these benefits reach every corner of Jammu & Kashmir, enabling people to engage in sericulture activities for a sustainable livelihood.

Highlighting the department’s priorities, the Director stressed the importance of extensive mulberry plantations across the region to secure adequate leaf reserves for silkworm rearing. He also underscored the goal of achieving self-sufficiency in silkworm seed production, a key step toward strengthening the sericulture sector in the Union Territory. On the occasion Mr. Bhat expressed gratitude to the Government for taking developmental initiatives at the grassroots level through various schemes and projects.

During the event, outstanding contributions, dedication towards work and achievement of staff members were acknowledged by felicitating them with mementos and certificates as a token of encouragement and to boost their morale to the next level. The Director commended the officers and employees of the department for their active participation in making the Republic Day celebrations a grand success.

The event not only invigorated the spirit of Republic Day among all the Officers and employees but also reaffirmed the department’s commitment to working tirelessly for the betterment of the sericulture sector and contributing to the nation’s progress.

The National Flag was also unfurled with pride and reverence at the Directorate of Sericulture Development Department, TulsiBagh, Srinagar with great patriotic fervor and spirit.
