Baramulla, Jan18: Mr. Ajaz Ahmad Bhat, Director Sericulture J&K, today visited the Basic Seed Station at Mirgund and the Mulberry Nursery at Nehalpora, Pattan, in District Baramulla to review the ongoing developmental works of the Sericulture Department. The visit aimed to assess the progress of various departmental initiatives, particularly the construction of rearing sheds for silkworm rearers.
During his on-site assessment, Mr. Bhat interacted with the concerned officers and staff to examine the status of the developmental works. He emphasized the critical importance of completing the construction of rearing sheds within one month to ensure that silkworm rearers can seamlessly undertake silkworm rearing during the upcoming rearing season.
Highlighting the significance of these efforts, Mr. Bhat stated that the timely completion of rearing sheds would not only provide necessary infrastructure to the silkworm rearers but also significantly enhance silk cocoon production in the region. He urged all the officers and officials involved to work diligently and ensure adherence to the stipulated timelines without compromising on quality standards.
Mr. Bhat also inspected the mulberry nursery at Nehalpora, where he reviewed the cultivation and maintenance of mulberry saplings, a vital component of the sericulture sector. He reiterated the department’s commitment to supporting silkworm farmers by improving infrastructure, providing high-quality silkworm seed etc. and offering technical guidance.
The visit reflects the Director’s proactive approach towards strengthening the sericulture industry in J&K and his commitment to promoting sustainable livelihood opportunities for silkworm rearers.
The officers accompanying Bhat assured him of their full cooperation and resolve to meet the deadlines, ensuring the smooth execution of all developmental works under progress.
