Srinagar, Apr 22: The Directorate of Industries & Commerce, Kashmir, organised a crucial brainstorming session on Monday at the Sanat Ghar, Bemina to streamline the processing of Goods and Services Tax Linked Incentive (GSTLI) claims. The initiative was directed by the Commissioner/ Secretary to the Government, Industries & Commerce Department to enhance efficiency in claim processing procedures.
The session saw active participation from Officers/Officials of District Industries Centres from across the Kashmir Division, as well as Functional Managers and IPOs of Industries and Commerce, making it a well-represented event.
Waseem Raja (JKAS), General Manager of the District Industries Centre (DIC) Budgam, brought valuable expertise to the session, drawing from his experience in the State Taxes Department. He provided insights into the policy framework governing GSTLI claims and addressed various concerns hindering the seamless processing of these incentives in the DICs.
Special emphasis was placed on adjusting the methodology for processing claims in the Service Sector, with a focus on Hotels, Diagnostic Centres, and Controlled Atmosphere Stores, which have thus far been overlooked.
The session facilitated detailed discussions, allowing participants to exchange perspectives and devise actionable strategies for efficient claim processing. It is anticipated that this session will significantly enhance the understanding and execution of GSTLI-related procedures among concerned DIC officials.
The commitment of the Government to the economic advancement of the region was reiterated, with plans for similar sessions in the future. These sessions aim to ensure that Officers/Officials are well-equipped to provide the necessary support to unit holders and facilitate the timely disbursal of incentives under the revolutionary New Central Sector Scheme-2021 (NCSS).
The discussion concluded on a positive note, with participants expressing optimism about applying the knowledge gained to overcome GSTLI claim processing challenges. This initiative is expected to contribute to the growth of local businesses through the timely and effective implementation of the New Central Sector Scheme-2021.
