DIPR organises cultural prog at GDC Chadoora

Srinagar, March 16: The Cultural Unit Kashmir of the Department of Information & Public Relations (DIPR) in collaboration with Government Degree College Chadoora on Thursday organised a daylong awareness cum cultural programme under the ‘Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan’ within the college premises, here.
The programme was organised with an aim to educate the students about the disastrous consequences of drug abuse and encourage them to come forward to eradicate the menace from society with the slogan ‘SAY YES TO LIFE, NO TO DRUGS’.
The principal of the College, Prof. Rifat Ara Misger highlighted various issues regarding substance abuse. She emphasized the participants to amplify the message of this programme to others to prevent people from falling into the drugs which is a death trap.
Drama Instructor from Cultural Unit Kashmir, Hilal Matoo also highlighted his views on the various issues related to the consequences of drug abuse. The thematic comedy was performed by the popular comedian Bashir Kotur. GDC Chadoora student, Shahid Qayoom of the 2nd semester, also participated in the skit.
The students also presented ghazals, folk songs and a short play highlighting the drastic effects of substance abuse while Cultural Unit artists joined by Dood Ganga Cultural Forum presented thematic colorful cultural programmes including a Kashmiri traditional music skit and Ladishah on the occasion.
The artists who presented the cultural programs received a lot of appreciation from the audience. The event was attended by 120 students from all the semesters.
