Jammu, July 07: In two separate functions, the Director General Youth Services and Sports J&K, Anuradha Gupta Thursday inaugurated the Divisional Level Inter-District U-14 and U-17 Boys Football Tournament at Khel Gaon Nagrota and declared the Refresher Course in various sports disciplines closed at Sports Training Centre-Base Camp Nagrota. As per a statement issued here, the DG Sports was accompanied by Joint Director YSS Jammu, Dr Vinakshi Koul, Deputy Director YSS Central, Jitender Mishra, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Jammu, Sukhdev Raj Sbarma and Rammurti Sharma, Incharge Refresher Course. The fortnight-long Course in which 117 officials (PETS and PEMs) drawn from various districts of the Union Territory took part, was formally declared closed by the Director General Youth Services and Sports J&K. The sports disciplines in which the officials were trained included Wushu and Table Tennis, in which the forthcoming 69th National School Games will be hosted by UT of J&K. The Department had named 16 expert officials as the Resource Persons in the Course, who left no stone unturned in bestowing necessary tips to the trainees to make them more skilful. Speaking on the occasion, Anuradha said that participation in the competitions is fine, but winning medals at the national scene is the ultimate goal of the Department. She advised the whole contingent of PETs and PEMs that they must percolate it down what they have learnt during the Course and leave no stone unturned to become Master Trainers for such Courses to be held in future. She further said such Courses are important to build grass-root framework and help the Department to produce better stuff of trainers and coaches. On the occasion, the DG-YSS assured the employees that their issues with regard to seniority and regularization will be addressed soon. Earlier, Dr Vinakshi and Sh Mishra addressed the Trainers and Trainees and threw light on the significance of the Course. Some participating officials also expressed their views and were thankful to the Director General Youth Services and Sports for organizing such a didactic course in which they have imbibed a lot of good things, let alone the latest techniques and pedagogies. They said such courses should remain a regular feature of the Directorate. Meanwhile at Khel Gaon, in the first match played today, Poonch beat Kishtwar by three goals to one (3-0), while Kathua defeated Doda by four goals to nil (4-0) and in the third match of the day, Udhampur beat Samba by three goals to two (3-2). A massive Plantation Drive was also launched by the Department at Khel Gaon Nagrota.
