Jammu, Aug 09: In a bid to assess the security preparedness and border management along the Jammu International Border (IB), Nitin Agrawal, IPS, Director General (DG) of Border Security Force (BSF), undertook a comprehensive tour along IB in Jammu, Samba and Akhnoor areas, officials said on Wednesday.
A BSF official said that DG’s visit aimed to review the security situation and explore strategies to enhance border security measures in the region.
He was accompanied by P V Rama Sastry, IPS, Senior Deputy General (SDG) of Western Command (WC), and D K Boora, IG Jammu. DG Agrawal interacted with BSF personnel, field officers, and local authorities to gain insights into the ground-level security challenges and developments.
The official said that the high-ranking delegation received detailed briefings on the existing security infrastructure, intelligence inputs, and operational strategies implemented by the BSF in these sensitive border regions.

“Discussions centered around ensuring the safety of border residents, thwarting smuggling and infiltration attempts, and fortifying border installations,” he said.
DG Nitin Agrawal emphasized the BSF’s commitment to safeguarding the nation’s borders and praised the dedication and hard work of the BSF personnel.
He highlighted the need for continued vigilance, innovative technologies, and seamless coordination among various agencies to counter emerging security threats effectively.
“The visit included an inspection of surveillance equipment, communication systems, and patrolling procedures utilized by the BSF units deployed in the area,” the official said.
DG Agrawal also stressed the importance of maintaining close cooperation with local communities to foster a sense of security and collaboration.
As part of the review, DG Agrawal and his team assessed the ongoing infrastructure projects aimed at bolstering border security. This includes the construction of border roads, fencing, floodlighting, and border outposts that play a pivotal role in maintaining the integrity of the international border.
The visit concluded with DG Nitin Agrawal expressing his satisfaction with the operational readiness and the morale of BSF personnel. He assured the gathered officers and personnel that their dedication and tireless efforts are instrumental in preserving the sovereignty and security of the nation.
Earlier on Wednesday, DG BSF, conducted a visit to the International Border along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Jammu region.
