Poonch, July 23: A review meeting to assess the progress of the ongoing ‘Stop Diarrhoea’ campaign in Poonch District was held today under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal in the conference hall of DC Office.As per a statement issued here, the campaign, being conducted from July 1 to August 31, aims to avert the spread of diarrheal diseases in the district through preventive measures and intensive awareness activities. During the meeting, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Parvaiz Ahmed Khan, presented a detailed PowerPoint presentation, highlighting block-wise progress and activities carried out so far. He outlined health interventions and public outreach measures undertaken under the campaign.The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the need for robust field-level interventions, interdepartmental coordination, and the provision of safe drinking water. He stressed the importance of community awareness to effectively control diarrhoeal diseases in both rural and urban areas of the district. To ensure water safety, the Executive Engineer Jal Shakti was directed to regularly use bleaching powder in water tanks to prevent the spread of water-borne diseases. Additionally, the Chief Medical Officer was instructed to develop a comprehensive awareness video on proper handwashing techniques. The video will be widely disseminated across schools, Anganwadi centres, health institutions, and digital platforms as part of intensified IEC (Information, Education, and Communication) activities.
