Cricket tournament concludes in Pulwama

Pulwama, Nov 20: The “Newa Cricket League-2023” organised by Police in Pulwama under Civic Action Programme, concluded on Monday at Sports Stadium in Newa. The final match of the T20 cricket tournament was played between Newa Cricket Club and Parigam Cricket Club which was won by Newa Cricket Club by 6 wickets.
Addl. SP Pulwama Tanveer Ah Dar graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. DySP DAR DPL Pulwama, IC PP Newa, along with other district officers and a large gathering of enthusiastic spectators and sports lovers also attended the closing ceremony.
During the closing ceremony, Addl. SP Pulwama emphasized the commitment of J&K Police by providing opportunities for the youth to pursue their sporting dreams. He highlighted the broader impact of sports, not just as games but as activities that promote fitness and steer people away from negative influences.
Post the final match, Addl. SP Pulwama honoured the outstanding performance of the teams. Both teams received trophies and medals. The winning team was awarded a cash prize of ₹15,000, while the runner-up received ₹10,000. Individual excellence was also acknowledged, with Haroon Malik earning the prestigious Man of the Match award, including a Cricket Bat & Trophy. Haroon Malik was further recognized as the Man of the Series, receiving Rs. 4,000 & Trophy.
Addl. SP Pulwama expressed gratitude to the players, spectators and all contributors for making the event successful. The Newa Cricket League-2023 not only showcased sporting talent but also reinforced the spirit of sportsmanship in the community.
