Jammu, Apr 29: The Regional Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) – Jammu expressed grave concerns regarding the recent incident in Ramban district, where over 50 houses suffered damage due to the sinking of a significant portion of road and land in Permote village. The incident has left many families displaced and in need of sustained support for rehabilitation and relief efforts.
The committee in a statement implored the government to take immediate action to restore livelihoods and enhance the safety of the affected population. It called for conducting a comprehensive study to determine the root cause of the disaster.
In its demands, the Regional Committee of CPI(M) called for urgent relief of Rs 20 lakh to each affected family, provision of land equivalent to the lost land, and the assurance of government employment for every family whose house was damaged.
The committee stressed the necessity of mobilizing the Geological Survey of India and various engineering institutes to provide a thorough report on the underlying causes to prevent future incidents. It expressed hope that the administration would promptly announce relief measures to alleviate the suffering of the affected families and ensure their well-being.
