Kargil, Oct 25: The Court of Judicial Magistrate 1st Class Sankoo presided over by Shafiq Mushtaq Lone today convicted a man namely Ghulam Ali, S/o Ghulam Mohamad, R/o Goma Kargil in a theft case of 2019.
After hearing the Assistant Public Prosecutor and defense counsel, the Court came to the conclusion that the accused had been found guilty of criminal trespass and stealing of batteries installed at KREDA under sections 457 & 380 IPC.
The convict is sentenced to undergo simple imprisonment for a term of one year for commission of offence under section 457 IPC and to undergo simple imprisonment for a term of one year for the commission of offence under section 380 IPC.
The Court also imposed a fine to the tune of Rs 20,000 against the convict for the commission of supra-mentioned offences to be paid to the concerned department i.e. KREDA.
The sentence of imprisonment shall run concurrently. In case the convict fails to deposit the fine amount, he shall further undergo simple imprisonment for 20 days in addition to the sentence proposed against him.
