Jammu, Aug 13: Controller, Legal Metrology Department, J&K, Rajinder Singh Tara today conducted an inspection of the Indian Oil Depot, Narwal, Jammu along with senior departmental officers of Legal Metrology Department.According to a statement issued here, the inspection focused on critical operational parameters, including flow meter accuracy, calibration records, and adherence to statutory requirements.Following the inspection, the Controller chaired a comprehensive compliance and safety review meeting with representatives of the three major Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) – Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL). The meeting aimed at further strengthening statutory compliance and enhancing operational safety standards.The session commenced with detailed presentations by the OMCs on their operational performance, consumer welfare initiatives and compliance status under the Legal Metrology Act.A major highlight of the day was a mock emergency drill conducted at the Indian Oil Depot to assess preparedness for contingencies such as fires or fuel spillages. The drill evaluated staff responsiveness, the efficiency of safety protocols, and the readiness of emergency equipment.An interactive session was also held with members of the Petroleum Retailers Association Jammu, facilitating direct engagement between petroleum retailers, OMC representatives, and the Department.
