Srinagar. March 10: Jammu and Kashmir government on Monday informed the Assembly that the construction of the Malla House marriage hall in Safa Kadal will begin once the land acquisition process is completed.
The announcement came in response to a question raised by MLA Eidgah, Mubarak Gul.
Gul had inquired about the status of marriage halls sanctioned for various locations, particularly at Malla House, Safa Kadal and Pamposh Colony, Noorbagh, under the State Annual Development Plan (SADP) and the State Sector. He also sought clarification on when the construction work would begin.
In his reply, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who also holds the portfolio of the Housing and Urban Development Department (H&UDD), said: “Only the Malla House marriage hall at Safa Kadal has been officially notified under SADP on October 5, 2017. However, construction work will start once the land is made available.”
He added: “Rs 75 lakh, including Rs 25 lakh for land acquisition, has been allocated for the project.” The Chief Minister assured the Assembly that once the land and necessary structures are secured, construction work on the Malla House marriage hall will proceed without delay. Regarding other marriage halls in the Eidgah Constituency, the government informed that three marriage halls—located at Gat-Colony Bagwanpora, Noorbagh, and Gassi Mohalla Safa Kadal—are already functional and are being managed under the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC).
