Jammu, Apr 01: “The INDIA bloc will win all six Lok Sabha seats in the Union territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh,” said Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Working President Raman Bhalla on Monday.
Addressing election gatherings of Bahu Constituency and Jammu South RS Pura constituency at Kunjwani, Bhalla expressed confidence that the INDIA alliance will win all six seats — two seats of Jammu region, three of Kashmir valley and one of Ladakh.
Highlighting the significance of Jammu & Kashmir, he said, “Although J-K has six seats in Parliament and 90 in assembly, it is the most important state for its strategic and secular characters. Congress will emerge stronger enough to form the government with likeminded parties, as no party will be able to form the government without Congress which is the only secular and democratic party in the country.”
The senior Congress leader said the people are fed up with “anti-poor” and “anti-people” policies of the ruling party.
Urging party workers to gear up for the ensuing Lok Sabha elections, Bhalla said the Congress believes in Hindu-Muslim unity and religious brotherhood for peace and harmony in the country. “BJP should tell what contribution it made in the independence of this country. While the BJP did nothing on serious issues like inflation and unemployment during its 10-year tenure, it left no stone unturned in disturbing the communal harmony of the country,” he said.
Taking a jibe at GST also, the JKPCC leader said taxes are being collected from the public for everything from salt and sugar to petrol and diesel, but the tax money collected is going into the pockets of capitalists. Before 2014, applications were invited for jobs in all departments, but in the last 10 years, only a handful of people were given jobs in the name of employment, he said.
Addressing the rally, Raman said that Congress has entered the field with great determination and would move forward taking every grassroots worker into confidence. He alleged that the country was not in safe hands and the end of the politics of dividing people in the name of caste and religion was near. “BJP’s politics of regions divided the mutual brotherhood of Jammu and Kashmir. Today the people of Jammu have been deprived of their rights,” he said.
Bhalla said Jammu & Kashmir was the victim of “wrong policies” of the BJP government. “First, the BJP government dissolved the state legislature to muzzle the voice, then not allowed the elections to happen till date in order to hide its nefarious agenda aiming to rule J&K through remote control so that no genuine voice would rise from the ground. The falsehood and tall claims on account of the development of J&K, the fake narrative built up with regard to employment generation, so-called back-to-village programmes and frequent visits of Central ministers did not yield any results. This reflects the absolute failures on the part of the BJP government on all fronts,” he said.
