Ghazipur, Sept 27:  In a notable address at a seminar organized by Swami Sahajanand Postgraduate College in collaboration with ICSSR, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha paid homage to the renowned social reformer Swami Sahajanand.
The seminar, held at Ghazipur, served as a platform to commemorate the remarkable contributions of Swami Sahajanand to the farmers’ movement and his pivotal role in empowering the small and marginal farming community, as well as the transformation and revitalization of the agriculture sector, aligning with the development aspirations of a substantial section of society.
Underscoring the alignment of Swami Sahajanand’s vision with the initiatives led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the LG Sinha highlighted the significant strides made in agriculture and allied activities, noting that the agriculture budget had grown by 5.7 times compared to the 2013-14 period. Moreover, he emphasized the increased credit flow to farmers and the allocation of Rs 1 lakh crore to the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund.
Lt. Governor Sinha said the progressive reforms guided by the Prime Minister have not only empowered farmers but also ushered in prosperity in their lives. The comprehensive approach, from seed to market, and efforts to bolster the rural economy have  led to the empowerment of farmers at every stage. This has resulted in the highest-ever food grain production, a substantial rise in income, and the emergence of entrepreneurship in the agriculture sector.
He also highlighted the substantial allocation of Rs. 20 lakh crore for agriculture credit to farmers, underlining the government’s unwavering commitment to unlocking the growth potential of the agriculture and allied sectors.
During the seminar, Lt. Governor Sinha shared insights into the agricultural reforms and farmer-centric policies implemented in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir over the past few years. He called for the adoption of sustainable development measures to effectively address the looming threat of climate change.
The seminar witnessed the presence of distinguished figures, including Prof. (Dr.) V K Rai, Principal of Swami Sahajanand PG College; Dr. Neerja Madhav, renowned author; Prof. Udayon Misra, Principal of LBS PG College Mughalsarai; Prof. Chandrakanta Rai, and other prominent personalities from various walks of life.
