Srinagar, Feb 06: Apni Party president Syed Altaf Bukhari on Thursday reaffirmed his party’s commitment to restoring statehood, protecting land rights and securing jobs for locals. He criticised political opponents for accusing his party of being a proxy for Delhi, stating that meaningful dialogue with the central government was necessary for any resolution.
“Our core agenda has always been the protection of land, jobs, and statehood. We have ensured that no outsider takes away the land of our people. Had it not been for us, half of India would have bought land in J&K by now,” Bukhari said.
He said that leaders from rival parties, including the National Conference, have now acknowledged the need to engage with the central government. “Earlier, we were accused of being Delhi’s proxies. Now, even the National Conference leaders are saying the same thing—that dialogue with Delhi is the only way forward,” he said
Bukhari reaffirmed his commitment to regaining statehood for Jammu & Kashmir, promising that his party would continue fighting for the cause. “By the grace of Allah, we will restore the dignity of our people. Jammu & Kashmir will regain its statehood,” he assured his supporters.
He also took a dig at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), questioning their handling of law and order in the region over the past seven years.
Regarding the delay in bail of AIP chief Engineer Rashid, he drew parallels to other high-profile cases where political figures were granted legal relief and called for similar considerations in this matter.
Bukhari concluded by expressing support for Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, acknowledging his efforts in addressing the region’s issues and calling for a collective approach to resolving human suffering.
