JAMMU, Mar 11: Lieutenant GovernorManoj Sinhacautioned on Monday that certain elements are attempting to revive terrorism in the region and are enticing youth into unlawful activities.
Speaking at the inauguration of a two-day training programme focused on ‘Strengthening of Child Protection Systems,’ LG Manoj Sinha emphasized the readiness of security forces to thwart any such attempts by terrorists.
“Some elements responsible for terrorism in J&K are making all attempts to lure boys and girls into unlawful activities,” remarked the LG, urging the police and security forces to remain vigilant to safeguard innocent children from falling prey to nefarious designs.
Echoing the sentiment of providing every child with a caring home, LG Sinha highlighted the administration’s efforts to strengthen adoption mechanisms, ensuring a happy childhood for all children in J&K.
Under the guidance of Prime Minister NarendraModi, the J&K administration is working diligently to connect children in need with institutional and non-institutional systems, empowering them to contribute to nation-building, Sinha added.
Moreover, he emphasised the importance of pre-emptive measures by police and security forces to prevent innocent children from becoming victims of adversarial plots.
The LG underscored the crucial role of stakeholders, volunteers, and youth clubs in rehabilitating children in conflict with the law.
Highlighting key initiatives, LG Sinha detailed the administration’s efforts in creating a conducive environment for the care and protection of children in the Union Territory. He mentioned the issuance of Juvenile Justice Rules 2021, which were notified under the Commission for Protection of Child Rights Act.
The event was attended by AtalDulloo, Chief Secretary; Sanjeev Kumar Chadha, Additional Secretary, Mission Vatsalya; Preeti Pant, Joint Secretary, Mission Vatsalya; Rachna Sharma, Secretary in the Social Welfare Department, along with senior officials of the Government of India, UT, and Police administration, prominent citizens, and various stakeholders.
