Srinagar, Jan 16: Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson for Jammu and Kashmir, Girdhari Lal Raina on Thursday accused the Advisor to Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam Wani of failing to perform his duties and instead, devoting time to criticise the opposition parties.
In a statement issued here, Raina said the Advisor is paid from the public exchequer to guide the Chief Minister, not to defend the government’s failures.
“Three months have passed since the National Conference (NC) government took office, yet there is nothing significant to showcase as its achievement. The government has failed to address the basic needs of the people, which were promised in their election manifesto,” he said.
The spokesperson said the BJP, as a responsible opposition, is duty-bound to raise issues of public importance, whether the ruling party likes it or not. He advised Wani to “tell the Chief Minister to work in a manner that leaves little scope for criticism”.
Raina also accused the NC leaders of spreading negativity and failing to attend to health emergencies, which he said resulted in the loss of precious lives, including those of infants in Rajouri. He questioned the demand to develop Sonamarg for snow activities, asking why the local Member of Parliament (MP) was absent from the constituency during the inauguration of a crucial tunnel.
“The NC’s elected representatives have a history of neglecting their duties and prioritising selfish interests. How the “Dil Ki Doori” (distance between hearts) can be bridged when their hearts are filled with hate, politics, and narrow selfish ends,” he said.
The spokesperson said the BJP will continue to raise issues of public importance, including those related to security, safety and national integrity, regardless of the likes and dislikes of the present dispensation. He advised the Chief Minister and his Advisor to “put their house in order” and work for the people, not just the party.
