Pledges focus on infra, youth empowerment
Says revitalisation of stalled projects his priority
Ganderbal, Sept 29: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday laid out an ambitious roadmap for Ganderbal, promising a transformative phase of development in the district.
Addressing a gathering after inaugurating mega developmental projects at Rs 36.50 crore here, the CM said that revitalising stalled projects, youth empowerment, and infrastructure upgrades are his government's key priorities.
Among the top initiatives is the Ganderbal Hydroelectric Project, which has been on hold for over a decade. “For about 11 years, these plans remained in a box. Now, my full effort is to start this project, which will benefit the people of Ganderbal,” Abdullah said, assuring citizens that no obstacle would stand in the way.
On resource allocation, the CM highlighted the CDF fund distribution, ensuring that every area receives attention. “There is no area where small or large projects have not been implemented. Wherever you indicate a need, we are ready to act,” he said.
Youth development is another cornerstone of Abdullah’s vision. Plans include upgraded playgrounds, football and cricket grounds, indoor sports facilities, and libraries with internet access across all blocks. “Our youth participated actively in last year’s elections, and now it’s our responsibility to provide them spaces to play and learn,” he added.
Omar also outlined improvements in electricity, roads, health services, and employment opportunities, pledging that no corner of Ganderbal would remain untouched by progress. “There will be no court, no department, no part of Ganderbal untouched by development,” he stated.
Touching on political developments, Abdullah referenced the 2019 Article 370 revocation, praising Ladakh for public participation. “What happened in Ladakh occurred with the people’s permission. We continue to work without taking the law into our own hands or disrupting peace,” he said.
The CM called for the community use of newly built sports facilities, saying that, unlike other local institutions, these should benefit the public. “I request that these facilities be available for one or two hours in the morning and evening, so our children can aspire to reach global heights,” he said.
Concluding his address, the Chief Minister reaffirmed his commitment to youth, education, infrastructure, and public welfare, assuring residents that Ganderbal’s development journey will continue unabated.
