Srinagar, Oct 07: BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh on Saturday responded to the recent speech by PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti where she made allegations against the saffron party.
Chugh pointed out the irony in Mufti’s criticism, considering her own father, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, served as Union Home Minister in the early 1990s.
“During his tenure, the Kashmir valley witnessed regrettable incidents resulting in the loss of lives of hundreds of protesters,” he said, adding that Mufti Sayeed faced calls for trial due to his alleged involvement in massacres in Gaw Kadal, Bijbehara, Hawal, and Kupwara.
Chugh said there was a rise in corruption during both Mufti and her father’s tenures as Chief Ministers of Jammu & Kashmir. He urged Mebooba to reflect on her governance record and focus on addressing concerns about corruption, rather than criticising the Bharatiya Janata Party.
He reaffirmed the BJP’s dedication to guiding the youth away from violence and towards education and opportunities, advocating for peaceful progress.
“We in the BJP stand firmly resolved to guide our young generation away from the path of violence and towards the realms of education and ample opportunities. Our goal is simple: Let them choose pens and laptops over guns,” he said.
Speaking about the progress under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the BJP leader highlighted Jammu & Kashmir’s significant growth in various sectors. He stated, “Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guidance, Jammu & Kashmir has witnessed remarkable improvements in infrastructure, electricity, education, and employment opportunities.”
Chugh reiterated the BJP’s commitment to the welfare of the people of Jammu & Kashmir and called on all stakeholders to collaborate in building a brighter and more prosperous future for the region.
