Budgam police seize 45 vehicles involved in illegal mining

14 FIR's registered during Feb-March 2025

Budgam, Mar 28: The Budgam police have seized 45 vehicles used in illegal excavation and transportation of minerals and registered 14 FIRs during the month of February and March 2025 across the Budgam district.

A police official from the Budgam district headquarters told the Rising Kashmir that the Budgam Police have intensified efforts to combat illegal mining activities in the district and seized 45 vehicles used in illegal excavation and transportation of minerals which includes . These include 27 Tippers, 16 Tractors and two JCBs from the areas of Bonhama, Qumroo, Chadoora, Badran, Magam, Hard Panzoo and Narbal.

” 14 FIRs have been registered against individuals engaged in these unlawful practices, ” an official said.

He said that this proactive approach to curb illegal mining has been actively taken up by all Police Stations of the district along with the Department of Geology and Mining. Also, authorities imposed heavy fines against those involved in illegal mining.

These actions underscore the commitment of Budgam police to curb illegal mining and preserve environmental integrity in the district.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding illegal mining activities in their neighbourhood. Budgam Police assures strict action against the violators as per law.
