Jammu, May 13: The department of Buddhist Studies, University of Jammu, Tuesday celebrated Buddha Purnima with great fanfare and enthusiasm.
The day marks three important events that occurred in the life of Buddha — his birth, enlightenment and demise. The function started with the garlanding of Lord Buddha’s statue and followed by the prayer (Buddha Vandana). Vesakha Buddha Purnima, Buddha Jayanti is a Buddhist festival. It falls on the day of the Full Moon in May. Among those who present in this function were Dr Vivek Sharma, Dr Rajesh Sharma, Rajesh Kumar, Deepak, Sahil Kumar, Nirajan Kumar, Sunil Kumar and other staff members of the department.
