Srinagar, June 10: In an effort to combat the severe shortage of donated blood, a blood donation camp was successfully organized by the 144th Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in collaboration with SMHS Hospital, Srinagar. The event, held to commemorate World Blood Donor Day 2023, aimed to raise awareness about the importance of safe blood and express gratitude towards voluntary blood donors.
India faces a staggering shortfall of approximately four million units of blood each year, resulting in an alarming death toll of around 12,000 lives lost daily due to insufficient supply. To tackle this pressing issue, the Blood Donation Camp held at the UNPD Camp Lalbazar witnessed an overwhelming response from both CRPF personnel and civilians.
The inauguration of the event was graced by Nadeem Ahmad Samdani, Comdt.-144 Bn, CRPF, who extended his heartfelt appreciation to the doctors and staff of SMHS Hospital for their valuable support in organizing the camp. Sh. Samdani acknowledged the remarkable dedication and humanitarian spirit displayed by the blood donors and thanked them for their life-saving contributions.
The camp saw an impressive turnout, with 60 officers and men from the 144th Battalion, CRPF, selflessly donating blood to meet the urgent demand. Notable attendees included Mashqoor Ahmad Zargar, SP Hazarabal Zone, SHO Lalbazar, and other officers from the 144th Battalion, CRPF, who wholeheartedly supported the cause.
As the event concluded, Ajay Kumar Verma, Second-in-Command of the 144th Battalion, CRPF, expressed gratitude to all the distinguished guests, dedicated staff members of SMHS Hospital, and the generous blood donors for their presence and participation, emphasizing the profound impact their contributions would have on saving lives.
