Pulwama, Dec 14: Block Diwas is bringing governance to the people’s doorsteps, said District Development Commissioner Pulwama Baseer Ul Haq Choudhary on Wednesday.
While speaking to a large gathering of people at High School Lalpora Kahleel Tral, the DDC said the permanent nature of Block Diwas is reaffirming the government’s commitment to an accessible administration.
Choudhary, who is also the Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, spent the entire day in Tral and redressed hundreds of grievances on the spot. He assured quality disposal of genuine issues in a time-bound manner. “The district administration is ensuring to provide all facilities to the people at their doorsteps and in this regard, necessary instructions are already given to line departments,” he said.
On the occasion, the DC Pulwama participated in a plantation drive at HS, Lalpora Kahleel. He was accompanied by SSP Awantipora Mohd Yousuf, Additional Deputy Commissioner Tral S A Raina, PRIs, Tehsildar Aripal and other district officers.
Baseer Ul Haq said that Yumi Block/Block Divas is a regular feature now and appealed to people to become active participants so that the issues of daily importance are redressed in the minimum possible time.
Highlighting the objectives of various governmental programmes and schemes, the DDC directed the concerned officers to complete the ongoing projects within the shortest possible time.
Thousands of people hailing from across the block attended the programme and put forth their issues. During the public hearing, various delegations, individuals and deputations from panchayats apprised the DDC of the issues pertaining to various departments.
Later on, the DC held a revenue court in the office of the HS Lalpora wherein both the applicant and the respondents were present along with their lawyers. The DC directed the revenue officials for more documents so that the judgment can be passed in the next hearing.
