Jammu, Jan 08: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee Working President Raman Bhalla on Sunday said the Bharat Jodo Yatra has been successful in achieving its objective of raising people’s issues and going forward it will ensure that the government is held accountable.
While speaking at a series of meetings with regard to preparations for forthcoming Bharat Jodo Yatra in J&K, Bhalla asserted that “untruths” spread about Rahul Gandhi to malign his image have been “demolished” by the Yatra and his ”reality” has come to the fore before the country.
“When it started, there were a lot of questions about whether people would come or not or whether we would be able to cover 25 km every day. The last 60 days have passed in a jiffy now,” he said.
“Yatris have gone beyond physical pain. Yatra has achieved its first objective and people know that it is being undertaken to highlight their issues, he said.
Former Minister urged people of J&K to support Congress to fight together against the “wrong” policies of the BJP-led Union government. He said people of Jammu and Kashmir had witnessed the worst due to the wrong policies adopted by the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government at New Delhi.
While addressing the gathering, Bhalla said that the Congress Party will defeat the designs of anti-peace forces vitiating the atmosphere to serve their vested interests. He said the Congress Party will remain committed to defeating the designs of communal forces and committed to safeguard the age-old tradition of unity, diversity and communal harmony in J&K.
He said that the performance of the BJP Government in the last 8 years has been poor on all fronts. “Inflation has skyrocketed, because of which the lives of the common man have been seriously impacted and unemployment rate is the highest in 45 years”.
Urging people to reject the “politics of hate”, Bhalla stressed that the Congress is the “guarantee” for development, peace and growth of common masses. In an apparent reference to bifurcation of the erstwhile state into union territories, the Congress leader said the people of Jammu and Kashmir would never forget as to how BJP “victimized and punished” them under the garb of development, besides snatching their just rights in order to fulfill its agenda, based on “lies and deceit”.
Yogesh Sawhney, former Minister speaking on the occasion appealed to the people of different shades of the society to come under the umbrella of Congress party in order to strengthen the social and secular fabric of the UT and ensure the overall development of each and every section of the society.
He asserted that BJP Govt is punishing people under the garb of inflation and many other wrong policies have been thrust upon them citing different reasons, which have no basis.
