Jammu, June 07: Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President of J&K National Conference on Friday said that the “drastic decline” in the Bharatiya Janata Party’s vote share from 46.2% to 24.36% in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections in Jammu and Kashmir signals a major shift in the region’s political landscape.
In a statement issued here, the Provincial President said this sharp decline is a clear indicator of the changing public sentiment and dissatisfaction with the BJP’s governance. “This significant fall in vote share should serve as a wake-up call for the BJP. It is evident that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are seeking change and are increasingly supporting National Conference more closely with their needs and aspirations,” he remarked.
Rattan Lal said that people have once again reposed faith in the NC leadership giving signals for sending its leaders to the upcoming assembly in J&K.
Thanking the party cadre and the leadership for remaining proactive in the LS elections, he asked them to show the same spirit which ensured NC’s decisive victory in Anantnag-Rajouri and Srinagar LS seats. He congratulated the people of Poonch and Rajouri districts for giving a “massive mandate” in all seven assembly constituencies to NC candidate Mian Altaf Ahmed in the Jammu region.
Gupta asserted that NC’s legacy of service and dedication towards the people will guide the party to triumph. “The support we have garnered across the region reflects the trust and faith that the people have in the National Conference,” he said, adding that NC has always stood for ensuring the rights and aspirations of the people.
He outlined the party’s key priorities including job creation, healthcare, education, infrastructure development for industries and underdeveloped other sectors control of inflation and MSP to farmers.
“Our focus is on holistic development that touches every aspect of life in Jammu and Kashmir. We are committed to creating job opportunities for our youth, improving healthcare facilities, enhancing educational standards, and developing robust infrastructure,” he said. “This is a critical time for the region, and we need to stand together. I urge the NC cadre and supporters to engage actively, reach out to the voters, and spread NC’s message of hope and development. Our strength lies in our unity and collective effort.”
