Srinagar, Oct 07: National Conference (NC) vice president and former chief minister Omar Abdullah on Monday said that if political parties fail to form a government, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would likely prefer to extend central rule in the region.
His remarks came in response to Member Parliament for Baramulla, Er Rashid’s suggestion to parties and independents expected to win on October 08 to postpone government formation until the Centre restores statehood to Jammu & Kashmir.
In a post on ‘X’, Omar reacted to Rashid’s advice, stating, “The man goes to Delhi for 24 hours and comes back to play straight into the hands of the BJP. The BJP would like nothing more than to extend central rule in J&K if they aren’t in a position to form a government.”
