Pulwama, Sep 24: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) General Secretary (Organisation), Jammu and Kashmir, Ashok Kaul on Sunday said the party will contest all ULB constituencies in the Union Territory.
Koul made the announcement here at Saffron Town Pampore in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district where he presided over a programme organised to mark the 105th episode of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’.
He told media persons that the electoral sequence is set to kick off with Urban Local Bodies (ULB) elections, followed by Panchayat polls and then parliamentary elections will take place.
The possibility also looms of assembly elections coinciding with the parliamentary polls, he said.
“The final decision regarding this electoral timeline rests squarely with the Chief Election Commissioner of India,” Koul said. He emphasised the BJP’s full preparedness for this pivotal electoral process.
An important aspect of his statement was the BJP’s “resolute commitment” to participating vigorously across all geographical regions.
In Kashmir, the party has set its sights on fielding candidates in each of the 40 ULBs, he said, adding that in Jammu, the BJP aims to contest 37 ULB constituencies.
On the occasion, the BJP leader highlighted ‘Mann Ki Baat’ as an inspiring platform where the Prime Minister shares innovative ideas. He noted its significant impact on the country’s people over the past nine years.
He said the programme focuses not only on politics but also on the country’s development and the achievements of its people, serving as a source of inspiration for the youth.
Ashok hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his “tireless efforts”, attributing them to the successful testing of Chandrayaan-3 and hosting major international conferences like G-20.
He acknowledged the Prime Minister’s role in launching a new era of digitalisation in India, which he said has now propelled the country to the top rank in digitalisation.
Other initiatives by PM Modi including PM Kisan Yojana, National Food Security Scheme and Ayushman Bharat have benefited millions across the country, Koul said.
