Jammu, Mar 22: The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president, Vikar Rasool Wani on Friday accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of using the central agencies against Opposition leaders ahead of Lok Sabha elections. He appealed to the people to reject the BJP in the ensuing elections.
Addressing a press conference at PCC headquarters here, Wani said, “They (BJP) have seized our money and frozen our bank accounts. The ruling party has collected thousands of crores through an unconstitutional and illegal electoral bond scheme.”
He said the BJP, through central agencies, has frozen 11 accounts of the Congress Party on false grounds and appealed to the people to “reject the BJP in the upcoming elections to save democracy”.
“For a delay in filing of details of only Rs 14.49 lakh, Congress Party’s eleven accounts of Rs 210 crore have been seized, while Rs 115 crore has been already transferred from our accounts to the government accounts by the IT department,” he alleged.
Vikar said when all political parties are exempted from paying income tax, why “such a huge penalty” for a small mistake of delay in filing returns of “our donations” from MPs/MLAs amounting to Rs 14.49 lakh only?
He asked people to “wake up and throw the BJP out of power to save democracy”.
“All these tactics of the BJP to win the elections by hook & crook are dangerous for democracy and if people don’t wake up now, our future generations will repent and curse us,” he stressed.
JKPCC Working President, Raman Bhalla, Chief Spokesperson, Ravinder Sharma, General Secretary (Org), Narinder Gupta and DCC President, Jammu Urban, Thakur Manmohan Singh, were present during the press conference.
